Forsyth County Sheriff’s Deputies honor retiring K-9

It was a sendoff fit for a “Warrior Princess” Friday when the Forsyth County Sheriff’s office bid farewell to one of its retiring K-9 officers.

Deputy Xena got the royal sendoff after serving with the department for the past several years. Previous to her transfer to Forsyth County, she worked for Alpharetta’s Department of Public Safety.

Xena was a busy dog, working for the John’s Creek-Alpharetta-Forsyth Drug Taskforce, Uniform Patrol and the Special Enforcement Division during her time as a deputy.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the 8-year old Xena will spend her retirement years with her handler, Master Deputy Banning and his family.

During her tenure with Forsyth County, deputies say she was responsible for recovering hundreds of pounds of narcotics and thousands in cash.
