FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Department of Natural Resources said rescue crews have recovered the body of a Kentucky man who drowned in Lake Lanier.
DNR said Jeffrey McElfresh, 55, of Louisville, KY, was paddle boarding without a life jacket around 4:30 p.m. in the area of West Bank Park and the Buford Dam.
Official said McElfresh had a pool noodle with him and it began to float away, DNR said.
When he went to get the noodle, McElfresh became tired an eventually went under the water.
DNR said McElfresh came back up a short time later but then went back under the water and never resurfaced.
His body was located a short time later.
