UPDATE: Two men found dead on boat at Lake Lanier identified as brothers

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Police said two men were found dead in a boat at Mary Alice Park on Lake Lanier Saturday.

Police have identified the men as Scott Landeck, 22, and Brian Landeck, 31, both of Cumming. The two men were brothers, according to our partners at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, along with the Cumming Police Department, Forsyth County Fire Department and EMS all responded to the scene.

Police said the believe the men’s deaths are a tragic accident. Deputies responded to the park around 11:23 p.m. Officials learned that three family members went out on their boat Friday evening to spend the night. When family members arrived Saturday, the two men were unresponsive. Family members towed the boat to Mary Alice Park.

A third man was disoriented and taken to a hospital where he’s being treated for carbon monoxide exposure.

Deputies found a generator on the boat.

“Though it was in an area that was not enclosed, the positioning of the generator did not allow the exhaust to exit the boat,” deputies said. “Instead it filled the cabin where the men were sleeping.”
