FULTON COUNTY, Ga — This week it was announced that the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office would receive an $11 million budget increase, Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat announced on Thursday.
Labat presented the increase to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners at a meeting this week. The increase will lead to a 20% pay raise for deputies and detention Officers.
The decision was confirmed with a 4-3 vote by commissioners.

The department called the budget increase ‘long overdue.’
This investment in public safety also restores $5.1M previously cut from the FCSO’s operational funds.

The department says the extra funds will go to the following places:
- Overtime pay for staff working in the Fulton County Jail
- Overtime paid as earned in lieu of comp time,
- Salary increases for sworn and civilian staff.
