FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — With crime on the rise, law enforcement agencies have been working hard to fill open positions.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office hosted a job expo at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School to encourage people to apply.

The sheriff’s department said it needs detention officers and deputies, and applicants can receive a signing bonus of up to $9,000.
Applicant Paris Owens said he saw the job expo on Channel 2 Action News and decided to stop by.
“I just feel like the energy that I bring and the brotherly figure that I bring will help give back to the Georgia community,” he said.

The sheriff’s department said it’s a one-stop recruitment shop where applicants complete their physical assessment, interviews, background check and psychological evacuation.
Lt. Col. Anita Fraser said there were about eight detention and deputy sheriff openings and a number of civilian officer positions open. She said time is critical.

“There’s always a need to bring good people in. Quality people in. As the quality of the world is changing, we always want to make sure there are good men and women in place to serve our community,” she said.
Applicants need a high school or college diploma, proof of citizenship and driver’s license.
