FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Union City police officer died after being involved in an off-duty accident, the department announced on Facebook.
Officer Rodney Steed died after suffering injuries from a vehicle accident, Union City officials said.

Steed was assigned to the court services division. He previously served in the United States military with full retirement.

“Officer Steed’s passing is a tough loss for our agency as his spirit and continual laughter remains an integral part of our daily lives serving and protecting the citizens and visitors of Union City,” the department said in a statement.
Steed also worked from DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office with 20 years of service before retiring from there.
