FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned the heavy police presence on Interstate 20 Westbound, near Moreland Avenue was due to a driver attempting to flee from a traffic stop, according to Georgia State Patrol.
Just before 3 p.m., officials say troopers with the Criminal Interdiction Unit were patrolling Moreland Avenue near Interstate 20, in Fulton County.

An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a moving violation, but the driver refused to stop and the officer began to chase the vehicle.
The driver entered I-20 West and GSP officials initiated with they called a successful PIT maneuver, causing the driver to crash into a concrete wall.
Officials say the driver was arrested without further incident.

The motive for the driver’s attempt to flee is unknown, however, officials say the driver was in possession of illegal drugs, which may have led to the chase.
