Man wanted on I.D. theft charges in multiple states arrested in Atlanta

ATLANTA — A man wanted for using stolen identities to buy expensive cars and rent apartments in multiple states was arrested in Atlanta, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said that they were working on intelligence from detectives in Los Angeles when they tracked the suspect to an apartment on Mecaslin Street in Atlanta.

Charles Edward Wesson was wanted on a failure to appear warrant in Fulton County, as well as on warrants in New Jersey and California for theft by deception and counterfeiting. He was also being investigated on multiple charges of identity fraud.

When deputies searched Wesson’s home, they found seven fraudulent driver’s licenses and multiple ledgers with victims’ names, bank account numbers and social security numbers.

Wesson was charged with seven counts of identity theft and seven counts of forgery in the 1st degree.

A 2017 Range Rover, over $2,000 in cash, a laptop and a television were all seized from the home.
