CARROLLTON, Ga. — A LaGrange man was arrested after he fled a traffic stop and then accidentally shot his passenger when he tried to throw the gun out the window, police say.

Carrollton police said an officer spotted a car that was failing to maintain its lane. The officer ran the car’s tag and found that the car’s owner had an active warrant.
When the officer conducted a traffic stop, he noticed the small of marijuana in the car. The officer thought the driver, Akeem Blue, may also have been drunk.

When the officer asked Blue to get out of the car, he sped away instead.
Officers chased Blue’s car, but the car suddenly stopped. The car’s passenger, who has not been identified, told officers he’d been shot when Blue tried to throw a gun out of the window.
The passenger was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital via helicopter. That person has not been identified.

Blue was arrested for felony fleeing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, DUI, reckless conduct, possession of marijuana, failure to maintain lane and simple battery.
