Ga. woman charged with father’s death after he goes into cardiac arrest

COLUMBUS, Ga. — A Georgia woman is behind bars and now facing charges related to her father’s death.

Columbus police say Jerry Faulkner went into cardiac arrest on Wednesday night and was taken to a nearby hospital. Less than 15 minutes later, he had been pronounced dead.

Paramedics noticed visible injuries on his face and neck.

Investigators spoke with witnesses at the house where Jerry Faulkner was picked up by EMS and called homicide investigators to the home.

Jerry Faulkner’s daughter, 37-year-old Marisa Faulkner, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and battery.

Witnesses told police they say Marisa Faulkner attack her father, hitting him several times and causing a cut to his left eye.

They say Jerry Faulkner became short of breath after the attack, which is believed to cause him to go into cardiac arrest.
