TWIGGS COUNTY, Ga. — The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man who reported finding a woman’s body in a ditch near his property in connection with her death.
Deputies said Stacey Gene Wehunt called to report a body about 50 yards from his property on December 19 in Jeffersonville.

During the investigation, officers discovered a woman’s ID that matched the victim in Wehunt’s trunk.
The GBI Crime Lab identified the victim as Carrie Elizabeth Burke, of Jackson.

Investigators learned that Burke was staying with Wehunt.
Wehunt was arrested Friday on charges of concealing the death of another, tampering with evidence, making false statements, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Investigators determined there weren’t any signs of trauma to Burke’s body. They are now waiting on toxicology reports to come back.
