Georgia athletes head to Florida to compete in Special Olympics

ATLANTA — Some local athletes are in Orlando, Florida for the Special Olympics.

Team Georgia left Saturday morning for the national games at Disney World.

Athletes will compete in eight events all next week, and they are excited.

“It would be an honor, though, it’s fun. All I am doing is helping the team out, and I do it every year almost,” said Kentrell Battle, who will compete in the flag football event.

“I’m ready to go and I am going to win the gold metals,” said Allison Ferrer, who will be representing Georgia in tennis.

The opening ceremony takes place on Sunday, and you can watch it on Channel 2.
