Georgia Bulldogs arrive in Atlanta for National Championship!

ATHENS — The Georgia Bulldogs loaded up eight buses in Athens to travel to Atlanta for the National Championship.

Georgia will face Alabama in the title game Monday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The team left Athens with a police escort just after 5 p.m. and arrived in Atlanta at 6:30 p.m.

The buses drove down Highway 316 to I-85 to the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Atlanta.

The buses held about 120 players along with coaching staff and some family members.;

Lots of fans stood outside in the frigid temperatures in Athens to send the Bulldogs off. There were also several fans waiting outside the hotel in Atlanta when the team arrived.

Channel 2's Tom Jones spent the day in Athens where he met mans who were excited for their team to play in the big game.

"Everything is buzzing. The bookstore, just walking around the campus, it's awesome," Ryan Deal said.

The owner of the Club House apparel store said fans have been coming in since the SEC Championship game to get their hands on UGA merchandise.

"Commemorative t-shirts, Rose Bowl Champion t-shirts, and before that it was SEC Championship t-shirts and the hopes of what's to come on Monday," Lisa Royals said.

Fans said they are confident Georgia will roll over Alabama in the National Championship.
