TATTNALL COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ law enforcement division said it confiscated illegally baited doves from hunters over the weekend.
DNR posted a photo on Facebook of the confiscated doves, along with the officers involved with the law enforcement operation.

The post said: “Earlier today, Game Wardens Jordan Usher, Bobby Sanders, and Patrick Gibbs confiscated 157 doves from 7 hunters on a baited field in Tattnall County. The confiscated doves were donated to the Mel Blount Youth Home.”
Federal and state laws prohibit hunting migratory game birds over baited areas.

Baiting is the practice of direct or indirect placing, exposing, depositing, distributing, or scattering salt, corn, wheat, or any other grain or feed that could serve as a lure or attraction for doves to, on, or over any areas where hunters are attempting to take them.
