Now, two new gangways are in place, one on the mainland at the Meridian Ferry Dock and one at the Marsh Landing Dock.
DNR said Myrick Marine Contracting Corp. of Savannah had installed the gangway, which are manufactured and engineered by CMI Limited Co.
“The new installations come after the Oct. 19 collapse of the previous gangway at Sapelo Island’s Marsh Landing Dock. The Meridian Ferry Dock gangway was replaced as a precautionary measure,” DNR said.
The collapse remains under investigation by DNR, the Office of the Attorney General through Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
