COLUMBUS, Ga. — A man is recovering after officials say he was severely burned while working at a manufacturing plant.
Columbus Fire Chief John Shull told Channel 2 Action News on Wednesday morning crews responded to reports of a person injured at a manufacturing plant on Northside Industrial Boulevard.

According to the investigation, when he was shocked, the victim was working in a small space on a high platform around a lot of high voltage.
Shull said the High Angle Rescue Team was deployed to rescue the victim, who was still on the high platform.
According to Shull, while the rescue was underway, the area was still charged with high voltage.

The victim was successfully extracted from the area and taken to a local hospital to be treated for his severe burns.
The identity, as well as the current condition of the victim, has not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
