Georgia fans braving the cold to celebrate Dawgs’ trip to championship game

INDIANAPOLIS — Most Georgia fans are more used to the warm temperatures in the South, not the 19 degrees of Indianapolis, but that isn’t stopping some fans from making the trek.

Monday’s high was expected to be just 27 degrees, with temperatures plummeting to just 15 degrees by 11 p.m.

Despite the weather, many fans are looking forward to Monday’s 2022 National Championship.

Inside the Indiana Convention Center, the Georgia Spirit Squad has been welcoming Bulldogs fans to the National Championship festivities.

Outside, though, most fans are trying to stay warm from wind chill making it feel close to single digits.

“It’s around 20 degrees now, you just got to think Orange Bowl mojo and Orange Bowl weather,” fan Bob Wright told Channel 2′s Chris Jose.

Unlike in Miami, there aren’t any shorts or flip flops in Indianapolis.

“You put your Georgia sweatpants on underneath your jeans. You triple later underneath your ski jacket,” fan David Wright explained.

Bob and David Wright drove up from metro Atlanta, but Heather Leo hopped on a plane.

“It was jarring. I mean, we were like, ‘Whoa! We’re not in the South!,’” she told Jose.
