Georgia mother, 10-month-old twins found dead in submerged car, police say

AUGUSTA, Ga. — A Georgia mother and her 10-month-old twin sons were found dead in a car submerged in a pond in Augusta Friday, according to the Augusta Chronicle.

The sheriff’s office was called to a submerged vehicle in Mayors Pond around 4:50 p.m. A person who was fishing found the car.

Crews lifted the vehicle out of the water and found the mother and children inside. All three were pronounced dead around 8 p.m.

The victims have been identified as Shaquia Philpot, 25, and her sons Caysen and Cassius Williams.

The bodies have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation lab for autopsy.

It’s unclear how long the bodies were in the water.

The investigation is ongoing. It’s unclear if foul play was involved.
