Georgia murder suspect captured in Kansas months after man’s shooting death

MORGAN COUNTY, Ga. — After months of searching, authorities have captured a suspect in a Georgia murder halfway across the country.

Adrian Weston was arrested this week in Chanute, Kansas with assistance from the US Marshals Service and the Chanute Police Department. He was wanted in the death of Alex Tolbert in January 2021.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Weston shot Tolbert to death at a Budget Inn in Madison in Morgan County.

A $5,000 reward was being offered to help capture the suspect, who authorities described as being “armed and dangerous.”

Weston is currently being held in the Neosho County, Kansas jail awaiting extradition back to Georgia by MCSO.
