OCONEE COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia EMT community is mourning the loss of a paramedic who was killed on her way home from work after a wrong-way driver crashed into her.
Jennifer Patrick, 43, worked full-time as a paramedic for National EMS in Athens and part time for the Elbert County EMS. She was killed late Friday night on her way home from work in Oconee County when she was hit head-on, officials said.

“Jennifer has served as a dedicated EMS professional for over eight years and has always been committed to providing the best care for her patients during their greatest time of need,” officials with National EMS said.
Co-workers said she was a pleasure to work with.
“She truly enjoyed caring for others,” officials with the Elbert County EMS said. “That was obvious in her patient skills and with her coworkers. Jennifer worked here only a few months, it breaks our hearts that it will not be any longer... Rest easy Jennifer, we have it from here.”
On Wednesday, Patrick was transported by a National EMS ambulance to Tennessee in a procession that left the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.
