BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — Bibb County Sheriff David Davis is battling leukemia after he was diagnosed last week.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that Davis’ cancer is a curable form and he will undergo treatments in Atlanta at Emory.
“The prognosis for his recovery is very good, however the treatment for his condition will require him to be away from his office for a few weeks,” the sheriff’s office said.

Davis went to a routine doctor’s appointment earlier this month and a blood test showed abnormalities, according to the Macon Telegraph newspaper.
More testing confirmed a leukemia diagnosis for Davis. The sheriff told the newspaper that his treatment is “already showing some promise, some progress.”
“It’s something we’re gonna get through and overcome and be better for it....I love serving the county and I look forward to getting back in the game real soon,” Davis told The Telegraph.
Davis, 64, has served in the sheriff’s office since 1979. He was first elected sheriff in November 2012.
