Georgia sheriff’s office legally takes over house at source of drug activity in area

HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. — A house will no longer be at the center of drug activity in one Georgia community. The sheriff’s office has officially taken over the property.

The Haralson County sheriff’s office said that through civil asset forfeiture, it took over the property on Coppermine Road.

Authorities said the house had been a source of major drug activity, including over five overdoses and one death within six months. Robert Morris was arrested twice this past year for maintaining a disorderly house for the drug activity and overdoses on the property.

In this case, the sheriff, the agency and the property owner worked together to turn the house over to the sheriff’s office and it was finalized Thursday.

In pictures posted to Facebook, Haralson County Sheriff Stacy Williams is seen posting a sign in the yard that reads: This drug house closed for business by sheriff Stacy Williams.
