FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The family of 22-year-old Raven Jeffress says agony is what they’re enduring after her life was taken from her.
“A piece of me was taken, a piece of my family was taken,” said Pamela Elder Mobley. “She was just amazing.”
Mobley says Jeffress was on the Dean’s List at Georgia State University, where she was a cheerleader and mental health advocate. Mobley says her daughter was looking forward to graduating.
“She was going to go to grad school and ultimately become a psychologist,” Mobley said.
Her family says on March 25, Jeffress was hit head-on near the intersection of Langford Parkway and Fleet Street.
Atlanta police said a Honda Accord entered the wrong way onto the exit ramp and crashed head-on into Jeffress. Witnesses told police two men jumped out of the car and ran from the scene. No arrests have been made.
“The thought of her having to go through this by herself and them just leaving her like that, it hurt really bad,” Mobley said.

An Atlanta police incident report says a witness stayed with Jeffress, who was unresponsive until first responders arrived.
Mobley says her daughter was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where doctors told them their daughter had no brain activity. Jeffress passed away three days later.
“This was avoidable,” she said.
Mobley says through this trauma, they’re finding renewed hope knowing Jeffress was an organ donor.
“She lit up a room. She lit up any space she was in, even when she was asleep,” Mobley said.
Jeffress aspired to become a therapist after graduation. While at GSU, she started the non-profit Alignment Mental Physical Spiritual Wellness.
The family has started a Go Fund Me account to help raise funds for a scholarship in Jeffress’ name.
Atlanta police told Mobley that the Honda that hit Jeffress was not stolen and was uninsured.
Mobley says police have located the owner of that car. However, they’re still working to locate the driver who was behind the wheel that night.
