EUFAULA, Ala. — Police have made an arrest after the bodies of a woman and two children who were found in a partially submerged car in a lake.
The car was pulled from Lake Eufaula near the Georgia-Alabama state line Monday.
Investigators have arrested and charged Devonte McGhee, 26, of Clayton in connection to the killings. McGhee is facing four counts of capital murder.
The Barbour County Coroner’s Office confirmed to Channel 2′s ABC affiliate WTVM in Columbus the name of one victim. The woman has been identified as Remona Hudson of Cuthbert, Georgia.
The coroner did not identified the two children since they are under the age of 18, but said they were born in 2004 and 2008, WTVM reported. The coroner said the three were apparently dead before the car entered the lake.
McGhee is being held without bond, pending a hearing in Barbour County Court.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Cuthbert Police Department and Randolph County GA Sheriff’s Office are assisting Alabama authorities with the case. Investigators from the departments could be seen at a Cuthbert home Monday that may have been the victim’s home, WTVM reported.
