Here are some of the notable Georgians we lost in 2021.

Hank Aaron

Hammerin’ Hank, the Atlanta Braves legend and Major League Baseball home run king, died Feb. 22. He was 86.


Max Cleland

The former U.S. Senator and Vietnam veteran died Nov. 9. He was 79.


Don Farmer

A longtime Atlanta news anchor and father of current WSB-TV anchor Justin Farmer, he died April 1. He was 82.


Michael Gearon

The former owner, general manager and team president of the Atlanta Hawks died Nov. 22. He was 87.


Vernon Jordan

A civil rights leader and adviser to President Bill Clinton, he died March 1. He was 85.


Claude Humphrey

The legendary Falcons defensive player and NFL Hall of Gamer died Dec. 3. He was 77.


Greg Knapp

The two-time Atlanta Falcons assistant coach died March 5. He was 58.


Johnny Isakson

A former longtime U.S. senator, he also held several Georgia offices. He died Dec. 19. He was 76.


Daniel Mickelson

The actor and budding fashion designer died July 4. He was 23.


Jovita Moore

The longtime Channel 2 anchor died Oct. 28. She was 54.


Dorothy Steel

The actress best known for her role as a tribal leader in “Black Panther” died Oct. 15. She was 95.
