Girl with cancer sworn in as Atlanta police officer during hospital visit

ATLANTA — The City of Atlanta Police Department brought on a special guest onto the force Thursday.

The department shared a photo and video introducing Officer Karma Lilly Little as an Atlanta Police officer.

Officer Karma Lilly Little became an Atlanta Police Officer on February 9th.

Little is currently at Children’s Health Care of Atlanta.  She has Neuroblastoma, which is a form of cancer that affects the nervous system, police told Channel 2 Action News.

Police said the young girl wanted police officers to go and visit her so they arrived fully staffed.

“After a few negotiations we were able to sign her up and swear her in as one of Atlanta's Finest,” Atlanta Police Department spokesman Donald Hannah said.

The team was touched by the girl’s willingness to fight both cancer and crime.

“Police are human beings too.......we all cried today.Today, was a good day! Congratulations to our new sister on the Atlanta Police Department Officer Karma Lilly Little!” the department posted on their Facebook page.
