GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga — A well-known Chinese restaurant in Gwinnett County just failed its health inspection.
There are several Golden Buddhas in metro Atlanta. The one that failed the inspection on Jan. 7 is in Buford, and after 34 years of serving Chinese food, the Buford restaurant failed its health inspection with a 65.
The score came as a surprise to some longtime customers.
“I’ve been here many years, maybe like 12 years. I go with my family and everything is perfect,” Jaime Gutierrez said.
Violations include inspectors observing an ice machine with mold-like debris buildup, unwashed vegetables being stored above ready-to-eat food in the cooler, and pork egg rolls not being held at a hot enough temperature.
Channel 2’s Carol Sbarge went to the restaurant to ask about the violations and failing score.
“Not really happy, because every time it is a different person, different regulations,” the restaurant manager said.
He said they try to follow all the regulations but says the inspectors keep focusing on different things. Just this past summer, the restaurant got a 91 on its inspection.
Joseph said he has since fixed all the new violations. A new inspection is expected within the next week.
