GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Family members are standing by a woman who is charged with murdering her child six years ago.

On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted Amy Ruiz for the death of her 3-year old daughter, Prizi.

The child's decomposing body was found in the attic of a Lawrenceville house.

Ruiz's family told Channel 2 Action News her former husband, Christian Vasquez, killed the girl then took Ruiz to Mexico.

"I know she is innocent, and when I speak with her I tell her to stay calm," mother Maria Marquez said.

Vasquez is also charged with murder.

Prosecutors say Ruiz gave conflicting statements about the death.
