ATLANTA — Authorities are investigating a crash that injured a Georgia State Patrol officer Tuesday morning.
According to officials, the trooper was involved in a chase with a motorcycle on Interstate 20 W and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in northwest Atlanta around 6:05 a.m. The chase continued north on I-285 where both vehicles went onto the Bolton Road exit.
Both the motorcycle and the patrol car crashed separately on the exit.
Authorities said the patrol car caught fire and the trooper suffered a head and arm injury. He was taken to a hospital in Atlanta for treatment but was later released.

The motorcycle driver ran off after the crash and authorities are still searching for him.
The trooper’s charred car was eventually pulled up and out of the woods.
