Gwinnett County police unveil new patrol car decals

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The Gwinnett County Police Department unveiled new decals on its fleet of patrol cars.

The department said the former style of decal had been in circulation since 1999/2000.  Over the past several years, the department said it noticed that the graphics began to fade. A few years back, retired chief Charles Walters met with a group of officers and they recommended that the graphics be redesigned and updated.

After considering several different design choices and getting input from officers over the course of a few months, the new decal was approved. The department said the new design is cost neutral.

The department said the new design will be highly reflective at night.

It will take a total of about 5 years for the vehicles to transition to the new decals.
