GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Three adults are facing charges after police said they found children living in horrible conditions in a Gwinnett County home.

Officers were called to the home on Ontario Court on Thursday to assist animal control while they investigated an animal cruelty call. When the officers arrived, an animal control officer told the officer that the conditions inside the home “were not suitable for an animal or any person.”

The office said when he opened the door to the home, he “immediately smelled a strong odor of urine.” The officer said he noticed empty cans of drinks, multiple items stacked on top of furniture and food and trash on the ground.

The officer also said he saw three cats caged and it appeared that they had been defecating and urinating on the carpet.
