3 shot in road rage incident outside Gwinnett County U-Haul, police say

BUFORD, Ga. — Gwinnett Police said three people were shot during a road rage incident in Buford Tuesday afternoon.

Police said that shortly after 5:15 p.m., officers responded to a person shot call on Buford Drive.

Officers found a driver, 25-year-old Shormoi Martin, with a gunshot wound to the leg. When officers asked about the injury, Martin became uncooperative, police said.

At the same time officers were talking to Martin, a white work van drove to a nearby Gwinnett fire station to get medical aid for a driver and a passenger who were both suffering from gunshot wounds.

The passenger had a gunshot wound to the chest and the driver had a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

During the investigation, officers learned that both vehicles had pulled into the parking lot of a U-Haul and got in a fight about something that happened on the road.

Police said Martin started shooting from inside his car into the white work van.

When the driver tried to stop Martin from leaving the scene, Martin got out of his car and started to shoot the van again. The passenger of the van grabbed a gun and shot Martin in the leg.

The names of the men who were in the work truck have not been released. All three people who were shot are at the hospital and are stable.

Martin has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
