GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Metro drivers got a bit of a shock Thursday on their way to work when they came across a dead bear along the interstate.
The bear was found in the median of Interstate 985 near the Hall/Gwinnett County line.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said it appeared that the bear had been hit and was dead by the time investigators arrived at the scene.

Deputies said the driver was not at the scene, so they are not exactly sure how the bear died or who may have hit it.
“Bear populations exist in the north Georgia mountains, along the Ocmulgee River drainage in central Georgia, and in/around the Okefenokee Swamp in southeast Georgia,” The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said.
