Moments after a woman and her 5-year-old son got out of the car, they say a woman armed with a steak knife came barreling towards them and stabbed the young mother in the face and chest.

“I had no time to react,” the mother said, who did not want to use her name. “It happened within about 30 seconds.”

After she was stabbed in the eyelid and the chest, she says her mother heard the screams and rushed toward the suspect, who was a total stranger. Amanda Hill says she was stabbed once in the arm while putting her arm out to stop the attack on her daughter.

“As soon as she stabbed me,” Hill said,” I punched her in the nose and knocked the knife out of her hand.”

Hill says she held the suspect, 32-year-old Filiz Flood, down until Gwinnett police arrived and arrested her.

TRENDING STORIES:

The entire attack allegedly happened in front of the 5-year-old, who was unharmed. Flood faces aggravated assault and child cruelty charges while she remains in the Gwinnett County Jail.

“I looked her dead in the eyes,” Hill said,” and I said, ‘Baby, what in the world was you thinking?’ She said, ‘I’m mad.’ I said, ‘Who are you mad at? You don’t know my daughter or me.’ She said, ‘I’m mad at the whole world.’”

Gwinnett police say it’s possible that Flood was under the influence of drugs.

The victim needed plastic surgery to repair severe cuts to her eye along with a stab wound in her chest, so the family has set up a GoFundMe campaign.
