Security video shows suspects shattering a glass door and quickly entering a Fiesta Clothing store on South Norcross Tucker Road. Within a couple of minutes, they grabbed a cash register with cash inside and even toppled an ATM, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

“This group is organized and they’re quick,” said Cpl. Juan Madiedo of Gwinnett County Police.

The Fiesta Clothing store was one of three businesses hit in the same shopping center around 3 a.m. Thieves tried stealing the ATM but it was chained to the ground, police say. Store owner Fabir Piedrahita, who has operated the shop for 15 years, says he fears crime is getting worse.

“The last three years, it’s getting more and more and more,” Piedrahita told Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson.

Piedrahita estimates the damage to his store is around $2,000, mostly for glass repairs.

Gwinnett County police believe the suspects, who were driving a stolen white Dodge Charger, are part of an organized group operating across the metro area using stolen vehicles.

“Our officers stepped up details. We’re hoping to catch these guys in the act,” Madiedo said.

Authorities are urging business owners to leave cash registers visible but empty to deter future break-ins.

“Make sure the registers are open and secured with no money in them,” Madiedo advised.

Victims say the suspects were in and out in under two minutes, prompting them to warn others to stay vigilant.

“They’re looking to get some money quick,” said Piedrahita.

Gwinnett County Police are continuing their investigation and asking anyone with information to come forward.
