The Georgia State Patrol said an officer was trying to stop motorcycle that was driving recklessly.
“The preliminary investigation shows that the MCCD Officer impacted with a tractor trailer in the fourth lane from the concrete median. The trailer overturned and caught fire,” GSP said in an email to Channel 2 Action News.
GSP said the two drivers had minor injuries.
Gwinnett County police said traffic was back moving along I-85 shortly before 6 p.m.
