Deputies arrest suspect in drive-by killing of 70-year-old Gwinnett County man

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a 70-year-old man in Gwinnett County.

Jose Aldo Sanchez-Vazquez was arrested overnight by the sheriff’s department.

Authorities said he killed Richard St. John outside a Norcross home on May 24.

The family told Channel 2 Action they were gathered in the front yard of St. John’s home in Norcross when a gunman came up and started shooting.

The family said their father had been dealing with someone tagging his fence and car. They are not sure if that had anything to do with the shooting, but police said the motive for the murder appears to be gang related.

Sanchez-Vazquez is facing murder and other charges.
