DULUTH, Ga. — Duluth Police brought a high-speed chase to a screeching halt, tackling a motorcycle rider who had been darting through city streets at over 100 mph for weeks.
Police say the 22-year-old motorcyclist, Alexander De La Cruz, had been caught on cameras reaching up to 120 mph, narrowly missing cars and fleeing officers repeatedly since November.
“He’s putting everyone at risk,” Cpl. Ted Sadowski with Duluth Police told Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for reckless driving.

Every time officers tried to stop him, a brief pursuit was called off due to safety concerns—until last Thursday, when police set up surveillance at his home.
“We were able to identify and locate where the motorcyclist lived,” Sadowski said.
Officers moved in at Buford Highway and Duluth Highway after spotting him at a stoplight. Video shows officers tackling the suspect as he tried to flee once again.
“That’s when we were able to tackle him before he was able to do what he has been doing,” Sadowski said.
Police say the rider’s actions endangered lives, and they hope this arrest sends a clear message about the dangers of reckless driving.
