They said they are unsure how she died and what to expect from the police investigation.

Her family shared a photo of her with Channel 2.

Rodriguez celebrated her 31st birthday earlier this month.

She had a 10-year-old son.

She moved to Gwinnett County from Venezuela less than a year ago.

Her family members received a call just after 7 p.m. on Saturday that something was wrong at her house.

Rosa, a family friend who did not want to share her last name out of fear of retaliation, spoke with Channel 2.

“The little boy suffering, this is kind of difficult for us,” Rosa said. “I’m a woman. It could happen to me. It could happen to you. It could happen to somebody else.”

There were several witnesses inside the home when the shooting happened.

Police are interviewing those witnesses.

So far no one has been arrested and police have not named a suspect.

“She was very happy. She wanted to work. She just bought her car. She was just getting up, and she was a very hard-working woman,” Rosa said. “Now, we have to send her back to Venezuela, you know?”

Her family would like to send her ashes back to her parents for a traditional burial if they can afford a cremation.

“We can’t get her back. We can’t afford it,” Rosa said.
