GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A former Doraville police officer has been indicted on a new charge in the death of a 16-year-old Gwinnett County girl.
Channel 2′s Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson has been following the investigation into Susana Morales’ death and Miles Bryant’s arrest.

Morales disappeared the night of July 26, 2022, after she texted her mother that she was on the way home. Morales’ remains were found on Feb. 6 off Highway 316 near the Barrow County line.
On Feb. 13, Gwinnett police charged Miles Bryant, the former Doraville police officer, with concealing Morales’ death and falsely reporting a crime. They later added felony murder and kidnapping charges.
Johnson obtained the official indictment against Bryant that now includes an additional charge of malice murder.

Warrant applications revealed that Bryant lived “in close proximity” to Morales’ home and that he dumped her naked body in the woods. But officials said Bryant had no prior relationship with Morales.
Morales’ cause of death has not been released, but police don’t believe she was shot.
It is unclear when her cause of death will be revealed.
