GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — An innocent woman was killed this afternoon when a driver crashed into her while trying to avoid gunshots, Gwinnett County police say.

Police said around 1 p.m., the driver of a pickup truck was being chased by another car on Winters Chapel Road near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Gwinnett County.

The driver of the pickup truck told police that he was giving someone a ride from a nearby location when he got into an argument with people in a black SUV. At some point during the fight, at least one of the people in the SUV started shooting.

The driver then ran a red light and slammed into a white Volvo, police said. Police identified him as Johnathan Porch. Police have not identified woman who ran from his truck.

Video from witnesses at the scene showed the driver of the truck on the phone explaining to someone what happened.

A female driver in the Volvo was killed in the accident. She was just passing by and not involved in the shooting incident.
