That officer ran after the man on foot. During the chase, the man fell to the ground and dropped a handgun. Police say he immediately got up and attempted to pick up the gun off the ground.
At that point, the officer showed his gun and police say the officer gave multiple commands to the man to not pick up the gun, however, he ignored those commands and the officer fired multiple shots at the man, hitting him at least once in the hand.
After he was shot, the man continued to try to run from police, but after running a short distance away from officers, the man surrendered to police and was put in handcuffs.
