GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — For the second time in one week, the Gwinnett County school district is investigating an inappropriate teacher-student relationship.
A teacher at South Gwinnett High School has resigned after allegations that she had a relationship with a student.
The 53-year-old teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student for several weeks.
“If it actually did (happen), on her part, it’s bad on her part. If it didn’t happen, that’s just more trouble,” student Ty Newton said.
Gwinnett Police say the alleged sexual activity occurred at the teacher’s house, the school and Lenora Park.
According to police, the teen’s mother alerted the school about the relationship.
“This came forward because the mother heard about the sexual activity, sexual relationship, and that’s when the mother went to the school to let the school know about it,” Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.
