GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A death investigation is underway in Gwinnett County after police say they found a man wanted for murder dead inside an apartment when serving a search warrant Tuesday evening.

Police were called to a convenience store on Peachtree Corners Circle in Peachtree Corners on April 25. Officers found a man, later identified as 22-year-old Kendall Reid, between two parked cars suffering from a gunshot.

Paramedics attempted to save Reid, but he died at the scene.

A month later, investigators issued warrants for Aaron Woods, 22, on charges of aggravated assault and felony murder.

Detectives believe Reid and Woods are family acquaintances and met up at the convenience store. Once there, the pair began arguing and investigators believe Woods then shot Reid.

Gwinnett County sheriff’s deputies later believed they had located Woods inside an apartment in Peachtree Corners but were unable to contact him.

When investigators believed that Woods had barricaded himself inside, the Gwinnett police SWAT team responded.

The SWAT team entered the apartment after several hours and no contact with Woods after several attempts. When they made their way inside, they found Woods dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Detectives, CSI, and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to continue the investigation.
