Gwinnett Police investigate homicide at hotel near Norcross

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett Police were called to a busy hotel near the city of Norcross late Saturday to investigate what they believe to be a homicide.

Police say they were called out to Norcross Inn and Suites at 6650 Bay Circle just before 9 p.m. on a “trouble unknown” call. Officers arrived to find a man dead inside Room 229.

Investigators say they found evidence of multiple shots fired into the room, one of which hit the victim. They have not released the victims name at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Gwinnett County police arrested 33-year old Demetrius Tyree Martin for the shooting after Martin came back to the scene while officers were still investigating.

Martin was booked into the Gwinnett County jail and is facing charges of Malice Murder and Aggravated Assault.

Police do say they believe the incident to be domestic related.
