The day before she vanished, Gwinnett police said she was disciplined by administrators in her school, which they believe might have provoked her to leave the house.
Jones visited the house and spoke briefly with her father, who said he could not talk at the moment but would get back in touch. The family has informed police that Asata did not mention any plans to run away before she disappeared.

A neighbor revealed that he was aware of Asata’s disappearance, but assumed she had come home after not hearing anything else about the case. The police had initially issued a news release about Asata, but with no new information coming in, they are now renewing their appeal to the public for help.
Amun is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and 115 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
