‘Hey! What are you doing?’ Duluth woman catches peeping Tom cutting hole in her window screen

DULUTH, Ga. — A Duluth woman says she’s horrified because a stranger not only peeped through her back window, but he cut a phone-sized hole in her window screen while he did it.

“It’s terrifying,” said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

Surveillance footage shared with Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson shows the man running away after the victim yelled at him to leave. Before fleeing, he appeared to leave a hole in her window screen where he was caught holding his phone.

“I didn’t go after him because he obviously had something to cut out that screen,” she said. “I think he wanted more clarity in his recording.”

The incident happened on January 2, just before 10 p.m., according to Duluth police. The victim said the man first walked up her driveway, appearing to test his phone camera.

“I don’t know if he was preparing himself at that time,” she said.

Moments later, she noticed his hands and phone pressed against her window.

“That’s when I see his knuckles and he’s holding the phone,” she said. “I yell, ‘Hey! What are you doing?’”

Duluth police are investigating the incident as a Peeping Tom case and have increased patrols in the neighborhood.

“He knows that I’m now aware of him. My neighbors are also very aware of him,” the woman said.

Still, she is left with unanswered questions. While she waits, she has upgraded her security cameras and added window sensors to protect herself.

“I never thought in a million years I’d go through something like this,” she said. “I have no idea who it is.”
