Macy’s store closings 2025: Georgia locations that made the list

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Macy’s announced that the company is closing 66 stores in 2025, including three locations in metro Atlanta.

The closures are part of the department’s stores restructuring where officials plan to close 150 stores by the end of 2026. Macy’s said the stores selected were underperforming.

“Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go–forward stores, where customers are already responding positively to better product offerings and elevated service,” said Tony Spring, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc.

The following metro Atlanta locations will close throughout 2025.

  • 3360 Ventura Parkway (Duluth)
  • 2100 Pleasant Hill Rd. in Gwinnett Place Mall (Duluth)
  • 3630 Peachtree Parkway in Johns Creek Town Center (Suwanee)

Channel 2 Action News previously reported in December that the Gwinnett County purchased the Gwinnett Place Mall location for $16.5 million.

The county plans to transfer the 23-acre property into a mixed-use complex that’s projected to bring new opportunities to Gwinnett residents and businesses. The county is partnering with CBRE, a real estate services firm to advance and refine plans for the redevelopment.

As part of the deal, the county agreed to lease the Macy’s department and furniture stores back to the company through early 2025.

However, no closing dates have been announced for the Gwinnett Place Mall or the other two locations.
