Early Monday morning, the hotel was draped in crime scene tape and a Georgia Bureau of Investigation van was at the scene.
Channel 2′s Tom Regan spoke to people who heard the deadly shots. One woman told him it jolted her and her boyfriend and that they had no idea what was going on.
“We just heard the shots, they were so loud, it made me jump. It just frightened me, you know,” said Ashondi Trotter.
Trotter said she heard multiple gunshots outside the building next to her at the motel complex.
“There’s children here and everything,” Trotter said. “It’s just very frightening. It took me a minute to walk out of my room and just walk to the gas station.”
Police, with the help of GBI agents, have identified the suspect as Brandon Lloyd White, 30. Warrants have been issued for his arrest.
Detectives believe that the victim and White knew each other and that they were seen arguing with each other before White shot the victim and left the scene.

Trotter, who moved here from Chicago early last year, said it’s her first brush with violent crime at the extended stay motel.
“It used to be kind of rowdy, but as far as a shooting, this is the first time ever hearing the guns shots I heard last night,” she said.
