GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A 15-year-old found his parents dead in the driveway of their Gwinnett County home on Wednesday morning. Police are investigating their deaths as a possible murder-suicide.

The boy found his mother and stepfather around 6:30 a.m. at a home on Woodington Circle in Lawrenceville and called 911.

Officers said the teen’s younger siblings, who are elementary and middle school-aged, were inside the home, unharmed.

Police said they called chaplains to the scene to provide sympathy to the kids.

“It’s really tragic this morning,” Colin Barnes said.

Barnes told Gehlbach that he has babysat the kids before.

“I can’t imagine how they’re feeling right now and I’m hurting just because he was so close to me. Him and his wife,” Barnes said.

Police said the shooting was likely domestic and they found the gun at the scene. Barnes said he didn’t know of any problems between the couple that would lead to violence.

“It’s really heartbreaking because I know he’s a family man. And I’m sad this morning to lose a good friend,” he said.

Covington police said they “feel confident” there were no other suspects related to the incident.
